Updating your opening hours during holiday periods is a small task but can have a big impact on customer experience.
Imagine your customers are planning to go gift shopping and they show up to your store when it is closed. Or perhaps you are providing a service over the holidays, when your competitors are closed. Wouldn’t it be great to have those customers directed to your website?
How To Set Holiday Hours on Google
Google has made it very easy to update in advance the opening hours listed with your Google My Business. By updating these hours you will also avoid the warning about potentially incorrect hours, that appears in searches.
Sign in to your Google My Business account. If you have multiple locations, open the location you’d like to edit.
Go to the “Special Hours” section. (You’ll only see this section if you’ve already provided regular hours.)
Click “Confirm Hours” next to an upcoming holiday. Or click “Add New Date” to choose a different date.
Enter the your opening and closing hours for that day
Slide the circle to “Closed” to indicate the location is closed all day.If you’re open 24 hours, click “Opens At” and select 24 hours from the dropdown menu that appears.
How To Set Holiday Hours on Facebook
Unfortunately, you can’t set temporary hours in advance on Facebook.
The first step I recommend is creating a post with your holiday operating hours and pin it to the top of your page. Updating your Page Cover is also a great way to ensure customers know when you are open for business. Once you get close to the holiday period, then it is quick and easy to change your listed hours.
